What is a live wedding slideshow?

A live wedding slideshow is a real-time display of guest-uploaded photos, shown on a screen at the reception. Guests scan a QR at their table, upload photos from their phone browser, and the images appear on the projector within seconds. Slideshow, mosaic and spotlight modes suit different moods. A PIN-lock keeps the display under the couple's control so nothing awkward slips through.

How does it work?

Two steps. Plug any laptop into the reception projector or TV and open the live display link. Guests scan a QR at their table and upload from the phone browser. Photos appear on the projector within seconds. The couple chooses the display mode from a phone-based control panel.

How it works
Setup

One laptop, one URL.

Plug a laptop into the projector or reception TV, open the live display link in Chrome fullscreen, and you're done. Guests scan the table QR and start uploading. No proprietary app, no Chromecast dongle.

  • Runs on any browser — no app to install on the venue laptop
  • Portrait or landscape orientation
  • Photo transition speed adjustable per event
  • Auto-return to slideshow after a still spotlight
  • Sound off by default (no video autoplay chaos)
Any laptop · Any projector · Chrome fullscreen
Modes

Slideshow, mosaic, spotlight.

Slideshow: one photo at a time, gently. Mosaic: a grid of the last uploads, filling in real-time. Spotlight: recent upload takes over, then dissolves back. Switch modes from a phone control panel.

  • Slideshow mode for the first-dance and toasts
  • Mosaic mode for the general reception buzz
  • Spotlight mode for the "everyone see this" reactions
  • Custom transition speed and fade timing
  • Photos + short video clips both supported

Control

PIN-locked so only your table decides what plays.

PIN-lock the display so the couple's phone is the only remote. Approve incoming uploads before they hit the screen, or run open (auto-approve) with a "hide" button per photo.

  • PIN-locked control panel: only your phone remote
  • Approve-before-display mode for strict weddings
  • One-tap hide any photo mid-display
  • Freeze the wall during the toasts
  • Unhide + replay after the event for the album

What to look for in a live wedding slideshow tool

Works on any laptop and projector

A tool requiring a Chromecast, Apple TV or dongle is a Day-of Failure Point. Look for a plain URL you open in Chrome fullscreen.

PIN-locked control

An open display is a compliance risk at a wedding. Any drunk cousin with the URL can flood the projector. Non-negotiable.

Hide button per photo

A photo you don't want up there should disappear with one tap from your phone, not require you to run to the laptop.

Freeze / hold during the toasts

When the speeches start, the wall should not be distracting. A freeze toggle keeps the wall on the current photo until you release it.

Live slideshow FAQ

Do I need a specific projector?+
No. Any projector or TV that a laptop can connect to (HDMI, USB-C DP, VGA). Open the live display URL in Chrome fullscreen and you're running.
Can I control what plays?+
Yes. PIN-lock the display so only your phone is the remote. Approve incoming uploads before they hit the screen, or run open (auto-approve) with a "hide" button per photo.
What if the venue wifi is weak?+
Guests upload from their own mobile data — the laptop only needs enough signal to receive the finished uploads (about 100 KB per photo).
Can we hide videos during the ceremony?+
Sound is off by default; videos autoplay silently. The freeze mode holds the current slide until you release it, useful during toasts.
How does it look on a widescreen projector?+
Photos fit inside a subtle border. Portrait-mode phone photos display cleanly in mosaic and spotlight modes without cropping.
