What is a wedding photo sharing QR code?

A wedding photo sharing QR code is a printable square barcode that opens a photo-upload page on any guest's phone. Point the camera at the QR, tap the notification, and land on a private gallery ready to receive photo and video uploads. No app, no sign-up, no login. The couple sees every upload appear in their gallery within seconds, and downloads every original file after the wedding.

How does wedding photo sharing work?

Three steps. First: create your wedding in LivJrny and get a unique QR code. Second: print the QR on invitations, table cards and a welcome sign — or share it in a WhatsApp group. Third: at the wedding, guests scan the QR with any phone camera, upload photos and videos from the browser, and the couple watches everything land in the private gallery in real time.

How it works
For guests

Guests upload without ever leaving the wedding.

One tap. Pick photos. Done. The upload page runs in the phone browser in four languages — English, Bahasa Melayu, Simplified and Traditional Chinese — so overseas relatives and elderly aunties never need instructions.

  • One tap from lock screen: camera → QR → upload
  • Works on every iPhone since 2017 and every Android since 2017
  • Four languages on the upload page (EN, BM, 简, 繁)
  • Photo and video uploads with in-browser compression
  • Uploads queue when signal drops and resend on reconnect
No app · Any phone · 4 languages

Where to put your wedding photo sharing QR code

Six positions that keep upload volume high from morning to last dance.

01

The save-the-date + printed invitation

Guests scan from the fridge weeks before the wedding. Most RSVPs come in the first 72 hours after they get the card.

02

The welcome sign at the venue entrance

A tall welcome board. The first thing guests see. Set the "we're collecting photos here" expectation on entry.

03

Every reception table centerpiece

The single biggest driver of guest uploads — a wedding with per-table QRs sees 3-5x the uploads of one with only an entrance sign.

04

The bar

People wait at the bar. Waiting means idle phones. A QR on the bar mat catches the crowd nobody else does.

05

The dance floor edge

The after-party crowd where the memorable candids happen. A floor sign catches every phone that comes off the dance floor.

06

The parting favour

A QR on the takeaway box. Guests scan the following week to see the full gallery.

What to look for in a wedding photo sharing platform

No app for guests

If your guests need to install anything, half of them will skip it. QR + browser is the only path with a 90%+ participation rate.

Multi-language upload page

At a Malaysian wedding that means English + Bahasa Melayu + Simplified Chinese + Traditional Chinese, on the same page. Most US-built platforms are English-only.

Full-resolution downloads you own

Some platforms strip EXIF or compress to 1080p. Insist on full-resolution download with no subscription lock-in.

A live wall that works on any projector

The venue projector will not have a proprietary app installed. Any platform needing a dongle or download is a risk. Look for a plain URL you cast.

PIN-lock on the live wall

Non-negotiable. An unmoderated live wall at a wedding is asking for something you don't want on the projector.

Wedding photo sharing FAQ

Do guests need to install an app?+
No. Guests scan the QR with their phone camera. The upload page opens in the browser on any iPhone or Android from 2017 onward.
How do I show the photos during the reception?+
Open the live display link on any laptop and cast it to the projector. New uploads appear within seconds. PIN-lock the display on Pro so only your table controls what plays.
What resolution do we get?+
Uploads are compressed once for delivery (max 4K long-edge) and preserved at full resolution for your ZIP download. The couple always gets the originals.
Can we hide the live wall until after the toasts?+
Yes. Toggle "hold uploads on the wall" in display settings. Uploads still land in the gallery; they just don't appear on-screen until you flip it back on.
How many photos will 200 guests actually upload?+
6-12 per guest across the day — roughly 1,500-2,400 total for a 200-person wedding. Multi-day weddings can hit 4,000+.
What if the venue has no wifi?+
Guests upload from their mobile data. If signal drops mid-upload the browser queues and retries on reconnect.
Can I limit who sees the gallery?+
Yes. The gallery is a private URL only you and invited viewers can access. PIN-protect it for stricter events.
How much does it cost for one wedding?+
Free trial event covers 50 uploads. Pro at $19/month unlocks unlimited uploads plus PIN-locked live wall. Cancel after the wedding.
